Following the successful world premiere of Moment of Impact 9/11 in London, September 2004, the work is now available for you to view on the Internet.
Moment of Impact 9/11 consists of nine door-size panels of glass with over 300 sandblasted images and is the result of four years work.
It is an image representing the artist’s emotional response to the TV news of 9/11, while trying to make coherent sense of the tragic attacks that day and the horror of man’s inhumanity.
There is one overall image but it is fractured into many pieces of glass each containing their own moments of impact. It doesn’t follow the chronological time frame of 9/11, nor is it a literal description.
References are made to Lichtenstein, Rosenquist, Jasper Johns and Picasso’s Guernica, among others.
It is one of the few pieces of art made in Britain about 9/11.
