The work was widely acclaimed when Panel 9 was previewed during the inaugural International Festival of Glass at the Red House Glass Cone, Stourbridge, U.K., August 27th-29th 2004. Moment of Impact 9/11 was made at the Red House Glass Cone.

The opening ceremony was held at the Cone on the Friday evening saw the 30 metre high structure illuminated, with speeches, events, demonstrations, food and fireworks.

The story of the famous Portland Vase was retold at the Cone during the festival. Its mysterious ownership from Roman times to the Renassiance and it subsequent lending to the British Museum, its history of smashings and restorations were re-enacted by John Northwood and his contemporaries.

During the festival there were many events in the Glass Quarter, including The British Glass Biennale, masterclasses, Synergy filmed by the BBC, lecture programme, demonstrations, schools projects, exhibitions, entertainment and much more. The next Festival will be held in 2006.
